    Notes: 
    The certificate is mounted in a black leather album with gilt-stamped cover title. The certificate is paired with a matted, engraved hand-colored plate extracted from t. 10 of the Atlas from the 1816-1830 edition of the Dictionnaire des sciences naturelles: Zoologie: Ichthyologie plate no. 5, showing two species of Ostéodermes (Ostracion à oreilles, and Ostracion triangulaire), signed: Prêtre pinxt.; Turpin dirext.; Prudhon sculpt. The certificate and the plate are mounted in the album with silk corner tabs.

    Certificate of appreciation from the Census of Marine Life, dated 2007, recognizing the research contributions of Dr. Victor Springer of NOAA Fisheries Systematics Laboratory, Smithsonian Institution Museum of Natural History.

    SCNHRB copy 39088013405741 has bookplate: Smithsonian Institution Libraries. Gift of Dr. Victor G. Springer.
    SCNHRB copy was received together with an envelope of high quality photocopies made from a colored version of most of the plates from the Ichthyologie atlas (t. 10), with modern captions supplied by Dr. Bruce Collette. The photocopies are a gift from the Census of Marine Life Research Program, and are kept together in an envelope in the Cullman's vertical file for reference. The original color plate accompanying the certificate is one of the images included in the group of photocopies from the Census of Marine Life, taken from a partial set of 63 hand-colored plates from H.
