Local Note:  SCNHRB copy 39088016711764 has the original color-printed stiff paper cover bound with staples; a hole has been punched in the top left of the volume, looped through with a white cord, as issued. Housed in a contemporary custom-made two-ring binder of decorated Tapa cloth, with a gilt-tooled brown leather cover label. According to NMNH anthropologist Adrienne Kaeppler, the Tapa cloth was manufactured in Samoa. SCNHRB copy formerly belonged to the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Honolulu, for which the custom binder was made. SCNHRB copy has brief annotation in ink on p. [3] of binder: 20th C.-Fox B-3834.
